Because the Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, is visiting Lithuania these days, we decided to look at how often the guest, Tibet, as well as Buddhism and Buddhists in general, are mentioned in the Lithuanian media.
In September and November of last year, the rise in mentions of Buddhists was driven by ethnic conflicts in Myanmar. Meanwhile, interest in Tibet this May was sparked by a Chinese pilot hero who managed to land, in an emergency, a plane flying to Tibet, as well as, of course, by the Dalai Lama's visit to Lithuania.
