“Over the past 35 years, we missed the chance to build a society that would respect science and value hard work. If most of society were like that, schools would not have to win prestige through blood. Every capricious citizen who comes along, without any competence, should not be telling a teacher, a professional in that field, how they should do their work,” was the idea expressed by Irena Baranauskienė, founder and CEO of the private Saulė Gymnasium.
In early March, the news portal Lrytas held the largest education forum in Lithuania, “The Code of Education,” where, in the discussion “Who Creates the School’s Image? The Leader’s Voice, the Media, and Society,” participants shared thoughts on the current state of education.
During the discussion, the idea was voiced that there is not quite enough discussion about schools, education, image, and how it could be changed, so together with experts and professionals, not only the current situation was discussed, but also what can be done to change the outcome.
As to what the current position of education’s image is, the discussion featured the research company “Mediaskopas” data strategist Vilūnė Kairienė,” which revealed that the data show some interesting things.
