A city’s size does not necessarily guarantee its mayor a place in the media. Nor does it necessarily mean that journalists’ and social media users’ attention will turn to what mayors would like to boast about — the projects they initiated, their participation in events, or similar favorable news about them. Analysis by the media monitoring company Mediaskopas shows that last year mayors were most often mentioned in the context of strikes, corruption, and other scandals.
